Use cases
- Making cutting edges and tips for turning tools, mills, and cutters
- Producing wear-resistant parts for die and cutting work
- Brazing carbide plate onto steel shanks to form tools
- Cutting and scraping hard materials in plastics and ceramics
- Work needing hardness and edge life beyond high-speed steel
Compatibility
Choose the plate size and thickness to match the workpiece and tool shank. It is usually brazed with silver wire or brazing flux onto a steel shank, then sharpened with a diamond or green (GC) wheel made for carbide. Carbide is hard but more brittle than HSS, so avoid impact and sudden temperature change.

FAQ
What is carbide plate used for?
It is a blank material for making the cutting edges and tips of cutting tools — brazed onto a steel shank and then sharpened. Because carbide is far harder and more wear-resistant than high-speed steel, it suits cutting hard materials and any job needing a long-lasting edge.
What is grade K10F suited to?
K10F is a K-group carbide grade popular for cast iron and non-ferrous materials. It comes as-sintered or ground to h6 depending on the precision you need. Tell BOWMAP about your job and we will recommend the right grade and size.
How do you sharpen carbide?
Carbide must be ground with a diamond wheel or a green (GC) wheel made specifically for carbide — not an ordinary steel grinding wheel. Grind lightly to keep the edge angle and prevent chipping from heat.
