CHUOKU carbide tips (carbide inserts) are high-quality tips fitted to the cutting end of a tool. They are brazed or screwed onto a tool holder for turning, scraping, and planing steel, stainless, and wood. Four popular grades are stocked and ready to ship — K20, P20, U20C, and H03C. Match the grade to the material for a clean finish and long edge life. Supplied by BOWMAP Industry & Tooling, Samut Prakan.

Grade P20 Steel, heavy work — heat- and impact-resistant
Grade U20C Universal, cast iron / medium steel — well balanced
Grade H03C Hardened material, hard cast iron, finishing — very hard, long edge life

Use cases

  • K20 — turning aluminium, copper, plastic, and wood
  • P20 — rough turning and heavy work on steel and structural steel
  • U20C — general-purpose work, switching between cast iron and steel
  • H03C — fine finishing and cutting very hard, hardened material
  • Fitted as the tip of turning tools, planers, and cutting tools

Compatibility

Choose the grade to match the workpiece — K group for non-ferrous material, P group for steel, U for general-purpose work, and H for hardened material. Mount by brazing or screwing onto a tool holder. Apply coolant steadily while cutting to avoid thermal shock, and sharpen with a diamond or green (GC) wheel made for carbide.

FAQ

How do I choose the right tip grade?

Choose by material — K20 for aluminium, copper, plastic, and wood; P20 for steel and heavy work; U20C for general-purpose work across cast iron and medium steel; H03C for hardened material and fine finishing. If unsure, tell BOWMAP about your job and we will recommend a grade.

How are the tips mounted to a holder?

They can be brazed onto the tool holder, or screwed on with a clamp-type holder for quick replacement, depending on the holder you use. Both give a firm hold for cutting work.

Why does the tip chip too soon?

Usually from too heavy a feed rate or impact, because carbide is hard but more brittle than high-speed steel. Avoid heavy impact, apply coolant steadily, and sharpen with the correct wheel to extend tip life.
