Use cases
- Holding round shafts and hex stock in general turning (3-jaw self-centering)
- Gripping square bar and irregular castings (4-jaw independent)
- Off-centre turning where the part must be deliberately offset
- High-volume repeat parts needing fast setup (self-centering type)
- Replacing a worn chuck on existing lathes in a machine shop
Compatibility
Match the chuck size to your lathe's swing over bed and confirm the rear mounting (backplate or threaded) against the spindle nose. When ordering, tell BOWMAP your lathe model and spindle size so we can supply a compatible backplate.

FAQ
What is the difference between a 3-jaw and a 4-jaw chuck, and which should I choose?
A 3-jaw self-centering chuck grips round and hex stock quickly because all jaws move together and centre the part automatically, but it cannot hold square work. A 4-jaw independent chuck moves each jaw separately, so it holds square and irregular shapes and allows off-centre work, at the cost of slower setup. Choose 3-jaw for mostly round work; choose 4-jaw when you need to grip square stock or want maximum flexibility.
How can I tell how many jaws a chuck has?
Count the jaws on the chuck face directly: three jaws means a 3-jaw chuck, four jaws means a 4-jaw. If each jaw has its own adjusting screw it is the independent type; if one key turns a single scroll and all jaws move together it is the self-centering type.
Can the BINACHO chuck fit other lathe brands?
Yes. A chuck mounts through a backplate, so it fits virtually any lathe brand as long as the backplate matches the spindle nose. Tell BOWMAP your lathe model and spindle size and we will supply a compatible adapter plate.
