Machine Tap Straight-Flute PO (Point Tap) CHUOKU
Description
Machine Tap Straight-Flute PO (Point Tap) CHUOKU
The CHUOKU PO straight-flute machine tap (point tap) cuts internal threads under power and suits through-hole threading where speed and consistency matter. Its point (PO) lead pushes chips ahead so they do not clog the thread; it works in tapping machines, drill presses, and CNC. Supplied by BOWMAP Industry & Tooling, Samut Prakan.

Use cases
- Threading through holes on a tapping machine or drill press
- High-volume tapping needing speed and consistency
- Tapping on CNC machines in a production line
- Tapping mild and general steel through-holes
- Replacing hand tapping when volumes are high
Compatibility
The PO straight-flute tap suits through holes because it pushes chips ahead; for blind (non-through) holes a spiral-flute (SP) tap that pulls chips back is better. Drill the correct tap-drill size, use tapping oil, and set spindle speed to the material. Hold the tap in a floating tapping chuck to avoid breakage.

FAQ
What is the difference between a PO straight-flute and an SP spiral-flute tap?
A PO (point) straight-flute tap pushes chips ahead, ideal for through holes where chips exit the bottom. An SP (spiral) tap pulls chips back up, ideal for blind holes where chips must come out the top. Choose PO for through holes, SP for blind holes.
What machines can a machine tap be used on?
It is used on dedicated tapping machines, bench drill presses fitted with a tapping head, and CNC machines. A floating tapping chuck (tension-compression) is recommended to compensate feed and reduce breakage. Machine taps are designed for powered use, not for tapping by hand.
Can the PO machine tap thread stainless steel?
Yes, but stainless is tough and builds heat, so use a suitable grade (e.g. HSS-Co), reduce spindle speed, use stainless tapping oil, and through holes will work better than blind holes.
